I’m Erin:
a Canadian women’s health patient turned writer and creator. I help women navigate unexplained (and diagnosed) chronic pain.
“Ugh, here’s that unexplained abdominal pain again!”
It’s been a long road to get here: to help women navigate feeling unheard and overcoming the hidden costs of chronic pain.
For most of 2025 I’ve functioned (often barely) with unexplained abdominal pain mixed with pre-existing jaw pain. I’m drawn to humour. Though, this aspect of me has not always come easy. While I was coming up with some sort of public presence to help make women’s health a priority, the abdominal aches kicked in —no it wasn’t period pain! Nonetheless, how fitting.
Canada’s health system, specifically women’s health, can feel muddy and lonely to no end, and you might ask yourself whether you deserve what you’re asking for —this thought has spent several months at a time replaying on my top 100 thoughts chart.
Advocating for your health is going to feel selfish at times. I’m here to support and guide you in advocating for tailored-to-you, result-driven reassurances (and hopefully some answers).
Tolerate less what doesn’t align with what your body is telling you
(or screaming at you).
Taking that selfish feeling out of
SELF-ADVOCATING:
That scan or procedure your physician declines to send you for? I’m here to help walk you through how to advocate for what your body is telling you. And the “it won’t show anything” suggestions? I’ll help you learn how to not necessarily ignore them, but rather to help unreasonable advice fuel you. Ruling out possibilities is equally as important as finding answers. Sometimes our answers are not right in front of us.
Those blood tests that come back negative? I assure you there are alternatives to breaking down your results, and discovering more precise testing.
That medication you’re being advised to take “just to try” or “in the meantime”? Been there. Our doctors aren’t always going to have definite answers, but they’re doing their best with the tools they’re given by the system that teaches them. It’s okay to decline medication while expecting deeper explanation. Own your well-being.
Won’t doctors give up on us if we decline bits and pieces of their approach? Doctors may look at your determination as a challenge —let them. There’s no such thing as too many questions, but spending too much time on one idea can make you feel trapped.
The wait lists? What should you do in the meantime? I’m with you, currently. My self-directed content —how I see our healthcare system through my own lens— will help guide you through the system, maybe not with ease, but certainly with hope and fierce grace.
Worried you’re taking up space? Stop worrying about it. The world is waking up to Canada’s backlogged healthcare crisis. I’ll share more about how I’m navigating this through my content. I encourage you to follow along.

Indulge in my self-directed content, written through my first-hand lens of navigating unexplained abdominal pain —jaw pain too! This is basically my diary. It’s going to get personal, heartfelt and sometimes a bit fierce. That’s the only way advocating in women’s health should be.
